1) The Waist And The Crouch

The most important part you should look at for the best fitting jeans for your body is the waist and the crouch area. In any off the rack shopping sesson start with this part. The should fit; you should be able to wear it without a belt, The jean should stay on your waist without a belt and not getting down. If it feels uncomfortably tight or too loose try a different size, fit or another brand.

The crouch region should not have extra denim. We are gonna avoid any extra fabric in the crouch area; extra fabric will not only make the jean ill-fitting and uncomfortable but also make your package look small.

2) The Thighs

Getting down from the waist and crouch we get to your thighs. And this part is also simple, The jean should hug your thigh with love; not so loose that it does not fit and not so tight that it stops blood circulation and hurts. Most of the time if you nail the thigh will also fit perfectly.

3) The Leg

This area is a little bit tricky, Why? because this is where the fit mentioned on the label plays a role. Different fits have different leg. And leg should also be determined by your body type. Don't trust the label, always try the jean on. For the oval shaped body type go with a straight leg without tappering or very little. The Square shaped go with a leg with medium tappering. And for the muscular body type go with something from minimal tappering to medium. Give your Legs more important than Thighs because if you get the waist and the crouch right then thigh will fit most of the time but the leg won't.

4) The Length

The length of the jean is a part that will not fit you most of the time for most of the man out there. So why didn't I put it in the first place? because It is something that no one will get right but it is the easiest part to fix for a tailor; Let me tell you I myself was only able to find only one, only one jean in my life time that had fit me perfectly off the rack, It was from Jack and Jones. So don't think about it much when shopping. And here is how the length should be. "The perfect length is right above the ankle bone of yours". Yeah, it's this simple.

This guide is to give all of you an idea about how the perfectly fitting jeans fit or how a jean should fit. This guide will help all off you to get the best possible fit off the rack. And the rest you can tailor from your tailor. It may be some extra penny but it is freaking worth it.

  1. I like how you went in depth on the jean and how it should fit. I agree with the leg being a crucial part in the fit. Personally for me, American Eagle makes the best jeans and their extreme flexibility makes them super comfortable to wear.

I highly recommend checking them out for jeans if you get the chance.
